1987 - Leave Me Alone; Michael Jackson.
This is one of my favorite videos from MJ. Although there wasn't much dancing like what's expected of Michael, it did beautifully reflect his imagination, creativity and true feelings. Michael wanted nothing more than for the media to just leave him and his personal life alone up until the day he died. But because he is Michael Jackson that will never happen. Even today his name is referred to on a day to day basis, and more and more stories are arising. People are trying desperately to unveil the hidden life of this superstar. It's none of our business really. But I'd be lying to say I'm not even remotely interested or that I don't intend to focus this post on something personal about MJ.

The reward for hardwork is indeed more hardwork. The price you pay for being a high acclaimed celebrity is no small one. With fame comes lost of privacy, lost of close relationships, expectations to live up to, defamation of character in many cases. And if you're anything like Michael Jackson and other child stars who's fame followed them into adulthood you're destined to have a few loose screws. I want to address Michael's existing or non existing issue with self hatred. Did he hate being black? You draw your own conclusion based on some of these proceeding facts.

I'm into youtube nowadays and this topic is being widely addressed.

Some would argue that Michael, like other any other celebrity wanted to fit the bill of hollywood beauty, which is almost exclusively defined by Eurocentric features.

STRIKE ONE
Michael is the only Jackson sibling to be hit with a severe Pigmentation disease while being a high profiled star. Over the years his skin virtually transformed from deep brown to a pasty unnatural white.

He also went from afro-kinky, to curly, to completely straight hair. But this may be just a sign of keeping up with trends.

I personally believe that Michael does in fact have vitiligo.
Michael makes the claim's that he's a black American with a lot pride in who he is.
Refreshing. This interview also brings up strike two.

STRIKE TWO
Michael's surgeries.
He makes the point that many celebrities have gotten plastic surgeries. It almost seems as if he's saying this is apart of their hollywood lifestyle. Which may be true.
When Michael Jackson passed away his nose was in what is called a "conclusive state." This terms means that his nose was altered so many times that it is virtually impossible to manipulate it any further.
For a nose to reach it's conclusive state it would have to undergo cosmetic surgery several times.
Contradiction at it's finest. Two surgeries?

STRIKE THREE
Michaels serious relationships, and what seemed like an infatuation with white women.

• Michael weds Caucasian Lisa Marie Presley in 1994.

I'm not saying by any means that interracial dating ALWAYS amounts to self hatred. That isn't ALWAYS true. [I'll talk about this later]

• Michael weds caucasion Debbie Rowe

• Michael always seemed to keep close relationships with white people, just a daunting fact

STRIKE THREE

In Bob Jones' book "The man behind the Mask," Michael refers to ordinary black people as "slaboos," and claims he didnt want "slaboo" children. Which brings us to our LAST OFFENSE and icing on the cake.

FINAL STRIKE!

Michael has 3 children white as snow.
The first 2 Children are concluded to not be biologically Michael's. Leading us to believe that Michael chose a white sperm doner to produce his non slaboo children.

ALTERNATIVELY IN MICHAELS DEFENSE ..

• Michael makes the claim that he loves being black and loves black people
• Michael Jackson dated several other black women but these relationships weren't as highly publicized [Stephanie Mills, Romonica Harris, Shana Mangatal, and Naomi Campbel]
• He was even engaged to Romonica Harris at one point
• Michael Jackson wouldn't be the only colorstruck black man born in the 1950's. I believe that Michael Jackson was brought up in a time where Negroid features weren't celebrated as beautiful. Today we are still learning to embrace black beauty. I believe that Michael had a bit of a disdain for his appearance, and it MAY HAVE had something to do with him resenting his father and resembling him to any degree. I believe that Michael Jackson did love black people, but he like many other black people wasn't brought up with the appreciation of black beauty. Because he is a prime target in the media his self-hate is amplified even more, when in reality many of us and of our parents and our grandparents were brought up to have this same mentality. We can't blame him for that. I still respect him, his music, his creativity, his artistic contributions, his distinct benevolence and his legacy. So may he truly rest in peace.

I don't think it's fair for many of us to attack a deceased person that has accomplished so much and had a good heart. None of us as fans knew Michael to judge him. And I especially don't think it's fair to attack the victim. He's a victimin so many ways and he is not solely to blame for displaying acts of self hatred. WAKE UP! This is a HUGE problem in the black community and Michael isn't the first or the last to exude self hatred.

We are the victims in so many ways.
And not the type of victim that needs attention or some feeling sorry for. We are the kind of victims that won't allow ourselves to rise above our adversities and move on. We're victims of brainwashing.
And we still allow ourselves to walk around with invisible slave chains around our minds and believe we have limitations as a people. Erasing generations of self hatred and brainwashing is not a proccess that occurs over night. Especially when so many blacks are in denial. Unfortunately we may not see a HUGE change in our generation, but it starts with individual change. and that's all we really can do.
